Moses was an Israelite Egyptian Military leader who rebeled! Any thoughts or info?
by Witness 007 injosephus and other non bible sources say moses was an excellent egyptian military commander who defeated the ethiopians.
now while i'm re-reading these bible accounts i get the feeling that moses was a brutal and smart military man.
as the "meekest man" on earth he invaded many nations killing all the inhabitants, taking their land {promised by jehovah} spoils and virgins.

Documentary About The Flood and Noah's Ark
by Blue Grass inabout a week or two ago i watched a documentary about the flood in noah's day entitled "in search of noah's ark".
two things i found very interesting in this program is a theory that one person had about how they believed the flood was caused due to a meteor hitting the ocean creating a tsunami that flooded the entire earth.
scientist were unanimous in their view that this is a very plausible scenario and that there is no way to rule this possibility out.

They haven't found dinosaur DNA, it doesn't last long enough, so there is nothing to sequence. All they have found is some protein, not cells with genetic material.
'Organic' doesn't even mean 'genetic material' anyway, it means 'carbon based' & usually refers to amino acids or proteins, both of which can last millions of years under the right conditions, it's very rare, but it can happen.
So although the DNA will have broken down not long after the dinosaur's death, it is possible to extrapolate what part of the organisms genome may have looked like by looking at the structure of the protein that the organism was constructing & from which the organism was constructed.

Did King David Worship the Dragon?
by cameo-d inthe god of king david certainly sounds like the description of the dragon, does it not?.
2 samuel 22:.
7in my distress i called upon the lord, and cried to my god: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.. 8then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.. 9there went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.. 10he bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.. 11and he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.. 12and he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.. 13through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.. .

JWs (my wife´s ....) reasoning:
by Albert Einstein inyesterday we had a serious conversation with my wife.
i repeatedly explained her, that never ever i will go in field service as jw, becouase based on facts, i realized, that many of the jw teachings are not true.
i showed her several logical examples as 1914, 607, 1919 as jw being chosen as the only true by jc, blood issue and some others.. wife: its minor issues.... me: it is not, since for not believing in these anybody could be df and thus sentenced to death.

It varied from j-dub to j-dub, are some are more open minded than others. Some of them even come to their senses after a while & end up here.
I'm sure many of you were just as dense once.

The scientific approach to "holy books"
by behemot in"remember, always, young man, that science which has become a great power in the last century, has analyzed everything divine handed down to us in the holy books.
after this cruel analysis the learned of this world have nothing left of all that was sacred.
but they have only analyzed the parts and overlooked the whole, and indeed their blindness is marvelous.

Science is about finding out what is correct & what is not.
What you describe as scientific extremism is exactly what science is at it's core. Science is not about opinions, it is about empirical data. The very nature of science is find out what is correct, what is factual & therefore what is not factual.
Science is science, there is only one way to do science, & that is by using the scientific method.

What the hell is scientific extremism?
Can you possibly give a good explanation of that? -

I remember when my grandad died of cancer. His 24 year old son who had left the truth a couple of years previously was at the funeral, which was a very JW funeral, it was essentially a watchtower study with the odd mention of the coffin in the corner.
Anyway, after the funeral, the rest of the family, all in the truth, were saying things like "hopefully this will make him think" & stuff like that. I remember finding that quite weird even then, & i was only 10 years old at the time & therefore still a believer (although with doubts galore).

Yes, there are sophisticated ways to clutch at straws... now what of it?
